US Gives India 30-Day Deadline to Buy Oil from Russia Amid Middle East War

Washington: A week into the US-Israel-Iran war, the world is staring at an oil crisis. Middle East Asia is in turmoil and the economies of many countries around the world are in trouble. The US has given India a month-long deadline to buy oil from Russia. This has sparked a debate in the US. Opposition lawmakers in Parliament Sam Liccardo and Reuben Gallego of Arizona have written a letter to Treasury Secretary Scott Besant, demanding that the Trump administration immediately withdraw the waivers given to India. "Your decision to grant a 30-day waiver is dangerous and suicidal. This decision does not seem right. The benefit of this waiver will go directly to the enemy," the lawmakers said in the letter. The US signed a trade deal with India last month on the condition that it does not buy oil from Russia. But as soon as the war in the Middle East began, the US announced a waiver from Russia.
