US-Iran Tensions Escalate as Trump Threatens to 'Push Iran Back to the Stone Age'

A sharp war of words has erupted between United States and Iran after Donald Trump threatened to push Tehran “back to the Stone Age,” prompting a strong rebuttal from Iranian officials and military figures. Following the remarks, Iran hit back through official and military channels, accusing Washington of hypocrisy and of committing atrocities while invoking ancient-era rhetoric. In a statement on the official X channel of the Iranian embassy in India, Tehran stated that it will not be “driven back to the Stone Age” by bombing from the US and Israel. “We are a nation with 7,000 years of civilization. History knows us well. What is clear is this: it is YOU who have carried the killing of children and crimes against humanity from the Stone Age into the modern world,” the statement read. The response was amplified by senior figures within Iran’s military establishment. Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander Brigadier General Seyed Majid Moosavi also issued a sharp reaction, criticising US leadership and its military posture. “It is you who are taking your soldiers to their graves, not Iran, whom you seek to drag back to the Stone Age. Hollywood delusions have so poisoned your minds that, with your paltry 250-year history, you threaten a civilization over 6,000 years old,” he wrote on X in response to US defence Secretary Pete Hegseth’s “back to the stone age” post on the social media platform. In his address to the nation, Trump maintained a hardline stance, asserting that US operations against Iran were progressing as planned while hinting at further escalation in the coming weeks. “Thanks to the progress we’ve made, I can say tonight that we are on track to complete all of America’s military objections shortly. Very shortly. We’re going to hit them extremely hard over the next two to three weeks. We’re going to bring them back to the Stone Ages, where they belong,” said the US President. Iranian military officials, however, dismissed these claims, warning that Washington was underestimating Tehran’s capabilities and misreading the situation on the ground. “Such assumptions will only deepen the quagmire you have fallen into,” he said, referring to Trump’s claims that Iran’s military has been completely destroyed and reduced to nothing due to US-Israeli attacks.
