US-Iran Tensions Escalate as Washington Prepares Tougher Economic Sanctions

The US is preparing to expand the scope of economic sanctions to pressure Iran. This has further increased tensions between the two countries. Tehran has also threatened to retaliate after US Secretary of Commerce Scott Besant warned of the toughest economic sanctions ever imposed on Iran. Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei said on Monday that his country is also ready if the US launches an economic war against Iran. He gave a clear warning that if new economic sanctions are imposed, oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz will be completely stopped. According to ANI, Rezaei said on Internet media platform X that Iran will consider any country joining or supporting the US economic campaign as an act of war against it. He said that if the economic war continues, not a single drop of oil will be allowed to go out of Hormuz. Meanwhile, Speaker of the US House of Representatives Mike Johnson told The Snake that Iran has kept its head down to ensure that the tensions between the US and the major sponsors of terrorism do not escalate.
