US Offers Alternative Route for India's Energy Crisis Amid Strait of Hormuz Closure

New Delhi: The US has offered India an alternative route to deal with the energy crisis caused by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz by Iran. The US has said that India can buy crude oil from Russia for 30 days at the moment. But this US announcement has riled Congress. The Congress is not only calling the US waiver an attack on Indian sovereignty, but is also criticizing the central government by saying that how long will the US continue to blackmail us in this way. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh, furious at the 30-day waiver from the US, has written a post in Hindi on X, saying, "Trump's new game, Delhi doston ko, Putin se leke oil, kab tak chalega yeh American blackmail." Congress MP Manish Tewari has even linked it to the country's sovereignty. He has also written in response to US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant's statement on X - "Issuing a 30-day waiver, is more hypocritical than buying oil.
