The Senate voted 52 to 47 in favor of the bill. The money will be used to fund Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol for the next three years, until the end of Trump's term. The vote took place on Friday morning. Republicans defeated all amendments that called for a permanent freeze on Trump's settlement fund. The opposition alleges that the fund could be used for political allies of Trump who consider themselves persecuted. The big decision in the US Senate: The debate on the immigration funding bill moved forward, the settlement fund associated with Trump was removed. The Republican Party also had differences of opinion. Senator Bill Cassidy of Louisiana proposed that the fund be given to policemen injured in the January 6, 2021, attack on Capitol Hill.
