US Senator Marco Rubio Visits Jamnagar, Discusses US-Pakistan Relationship and Energy Partnerships

In a conversation with a newspaper, Rubio was asked if the growing relationship between the US and Pakistan was reminiscent of the situation in the 1970s, when then US President Richard Nixon and his National Security Advisor Henry Kissinger were accused of leaning towards Pakistan. To this, Rubio said, Today's world is not at all like it was in the 1970s. There was a Cold War in that era and a variety of other situations of sanctions that do not exist today. The Reliance statement said that on the Jamnagar visit, Rubio and Gore were also briefed about Reliance's New Energy Gigafactories and under-construction data centres. Chairman Mukesh Ambani welcomed them and informed them about developing the Jamnagar complex as a hub for deep-tech, innovation and advanced manufacturing. The visit also discussed the global energy landscape and opportunities for partnerships in traditional and new energy sectors. The US Secretary of State for External Affairs said these are not an attempt to penalise India over visa restrictions or a foreign policy.
