Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has once again made a public announcement to change the name of Bhadohi district, which is known as the world-famous Kalin Nagri, to Sant Ravidas Nagar. The history of the district has gone through many political and administrative changes in the last three decades. After the formation of a separate district in 1994, it was named Bhadohi. After this, when the governments changed, the name of the district also kept changing. Sometimes it was called Sant Ravidas Nagar after Sant Ravidas, sometimes the old identity was restored to Bhadohi. Let us know what happened when. Bhadohi was earlier a part of Varanasi district. Bhadohi was made a separate district in the government of then Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav on 30 June 1994 after the demand to form a separate district. The identity of the district remained with the name Bhadohi since then. After the change of power in 1997, the name of the district was changed to Bhadohi. Bhadohi was renamed as Sant Ravidas Nagar after the then Chief Minister Mayawati's government on 4 December 1997. Bhadohi was added to its social name in 2020 when Mayawati said that it was a priority in Uttar Pradesh.
