According to the police, Vinod Sahni was killed due to resentment over an alleged casteist comment on social media. After this, the police have intensified monitoring of social media platforms. The social media cell and cyber team of the police are constantly monitoring Facebook, Instagram, among other platforms. According to the police, three people have been booked so far for alleged posts spreading disharmony in society. These include Kajal Singh, a resident of Itiathok police station area, Krishna Kumar Nishad, a resident of Colonelganj police station area, and Ram Kishun, a resident of Tarabganj. The police say that action has been taken against the three under serious sections on the basis of alleged posts related to spreading disharmony in the society on social media. The Gonda police have clarified that no action is being taken against anyone on social media or on social media.
