VHP Nepal Seeks Constitutional Change to Restore 'Hindu Nation'

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Nepal has given a written proposal to the government. It suggests deleting the word secular from Article-4 of the constitution. VHP Nepal wants Nepal to be restored as a Hindu nation with respect to Sanatan Dharma. Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RAPRPA) is also pushing for inclusion of the issue of Hindu nation in the constitution amendment debate. The government's constitution amendment task force has suggested changes in 245 articles out of 308. Pro-Hindu organizations have made this process an opportunity to include their demand in the constitutional debate. VHP Nepal Matrishakti Vibhag national president Krishna Pandey has given this information. The party wants to include Hindu, Buddhist, and Kirat religious-cultural traditions in the Sanatan Sanstha tradition. The party, led by Adhyatrapraprapa president Rajendra Prasad Lyngden, has met Prime Minister Balen Shah. The party has also demanded inclusion of Hindu nation, state institutions, and federal issues in the constitution amendment debate. RAPRPA says it should also be included in the political debate on the constitution amendment.
