Chennai: With the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections 20 and 26 around the corner, South Indian film superstar and TVK chief Vijay surprised everyone by making a splashy entry into the political arena. On Sunday, at a key meeting of party workers, Vijay announced that he will try his luck from two seats - Perambur in Chennai and Trichy East (Tiruchirappalli East) - in the upcoming elections on April 23. Vijay announced a list of strong candidates from his team, making it clear that the fight is not just for power, but to end the alleged authoritarianism and corruption of the DMK. Calling the Stalin-led ruling alliance a'patch-up alliance ', Vijay called the election a direct contest between'people's team'versus'Stalin's team '. He called it his'guarantee'to woo young voters. He promised that if voted to power, students from Class 12 to ID-2 will be given a completely jobless job, free loans for studies, and a new government job in Tamil Nadu.
