Manikchak: On the death anniversary of Ramanavami, Malda's Manikchak was witness to extreme chaos and political conflict. Serious allegations were made against the BJP workers, ranging from displaying weapons in the procession, to tearing posters of the Chief Minister himself and insulting Deshnayak Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The incident sent shock waves across the block. The participants of the procession tore down a huge road crossing gate and posters bearing the picture of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, right in front of the Manikchak Block TMC office. Slogans were raised in support of Modi and the BJP while posters were torn with sticks and swords. The ruling party claimed that the incident took place in the presence and at the behest of BJP's Manikchak Assembly candidate Gour Chandra Mondal. According to the TMC's complaint, the chaos was not limited to tearing posters. When the procession reached the Manikchak bus stand, the religious flag of the former leader of Deshnayak Subhas Chandra Bose was also torn.
