Viral Photo of Pakistan Team's Grand Welcome in Sri Lanka Debunked as AI-Generated

ClaimA photo circulating online claims to show a grand welcome for the Pakistan team in Sri Lanka upon their arrival for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.FactA closer examination of the viral image reveals multiple visual inconsistencies that raise doubts about its authenticity. Several individuals in the background appear distorted, with unnatural facial features and irregular body proportions. To verify the image, it was analysed using AI detection tools. Sightengine flagged the photo as 99% likely to be AI-generated. Hive Moderation’s detector further assessed the image and concluded with 99.9% confidence that it contains AI-generated or deepfake content. Another tool, Undetectable AI, also indicated that the image was likely created using artificial intelligence.The official social media account of Sri Lanka Cricket shared real visuals of the Pakistan team’s arrival in the country, which can be seen here. Hence, we could conclude that it is an AI-generated image falsely portraying a grand welcome for the Pakistan cricket team in Sri Lanka.
