Another death took place in Jalpaiguri due to missing names in the SIR. Gaurang Dey, a small momo shopkeeper of Ashram Para Mor, a resident of Jalpaiguri 11th ward. He was living on rent opposite LIC housing in 10th ward. He was being called gradually since the beginning of the SIR process. He repeatedly showed the necessary documents he had with him, but the Election Commission allegedly did not like it. Finally, his name was found missing in the final voter list published on 28th February. Local sources said that he ran around to find out how to take his name on 1st February. Family sources said that he committed suicide on the morning of 2nd February. He was 62 years old at the time of his death. CPI (M) Jalpaiguri district secretary Pijush Mishra, district party secretary Koushik Mondal Bhattacharya, teacher Kaushik Goswami and other party leaders spoke about being close to his family members after hearing the news of Govind Karmakar's tragic death.
