New Delhi તા.24: The first phase of polling in West Bengal assembly elections has shocked poll pundits and political parties. The polling percentage in this first phase breaks all previous records. The voter turnout in 152 seats is over 92%, which may reach 93% in the final tally. If this happens, it will be about 10% more than the 83.2% turnout in the first phase of the 2021 assembly elections. This increased turnout has now become the biggest political question: does it favour Didi or does it create an opportunity for the BJP in Delhi? After the completion of polling in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar issued a statement, saluting every voter who exercised their franchise and their spirit. He said that this is the highest voter turnout since independence. In the last 45 assembly elections, wherever the voter turnout was less than the last election or was the same as the last election, most of the states benefited from the current government, for example in Madhya Pradesh, where the voter turnout was 75%, and in Uttar Pradesh, where the BJP was successful in returning to power.
