West Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya has demanded another round of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in West Bengal. He alleged that the last time this process was adopted, there was violence and obstruction. Reacting to the protests over this process, Rajya Sabha MP Bhattacharya claimed that in the last SIR held during the previous TMC government, documents were snatched from people, burnt, election officials were attacked and offices were set on fire. He said that instead of alleging'vote theft ', Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar should be honoured for conducting the election process in a transparent manner. He alleged that West Bengal needs another SIR as the process was not smooth last time. Documents were burnt, officials were attacked and offices were set on fire. He also alleged that during this block development officers (BDOs), booth-level agents of the BJP (CLA) were attacked while protesting over this process.
