West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has made a big statement regarding the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the state. He said that like Uttarakhand and Gujarat, UCC will be implemented here and laws will be brought against'Love Jihad'and'Land Jihad'within the next 6 months. He assured at a program organized by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) in the capital Kolkata on Sunday (October 4, 2026) that his government will work according to the Constitution and will not allow any attack on Indian culture or places of worship. West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said that to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the state, the government has formed a high-level committee headed by former Supreme Court Justice Ranjana Desai. This committee will examine the proposed draft bill of UCC for the state. The purpose of the proposed law is to make a uniform civil code for different communities in West Bengal such as marriage, divorce, inheritance and adoption. He said that the UCC program of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal (2026).
