West Bengal Government's Egg Provision Sparks Controversy in Schools

The controversy and political slugfest over the mid-day meal in West Bengal government schools is still going on. Bengal's Suvendu Adhikari government has announced to give eggs to school children twice a week along with mid-day meals, but Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Kunal Ghosh has strongly objected to this decision of the government. He said that why will the government give eggs to children only two days a week, children should be given eggs every day. Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Kunal Ghosh said in a conversation with news agency ANI on Sunday (August 2, 2026 ),'Why should children be given eggs in the mid-day meal in schools only two days a week. Whenever schools are open, children should be given eggs. It has been said to give two eggs after our demand, otherwise Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) people had completely removed eggs from the menu.'Eggs in Kolkata should be eaten twice a day, "says MLA Ghosh.
