Women Take Charge: Historic Electoral Leadership in West Bengal's Kushmandi Block

Saurav Roy, Kushmandi: The electoral history of Kushmandi block is set to be a landmark one. Three women government officials will be in charge of the entire process for the upcoming West Bengal Election 2026. BDO Naina Dey, Joint BDO Rupa Gupta and OC Election Chitra Roy have been entrusted with this task. Senior residents of the area say that although several women BDOs have been in charge of the Kushmandi block in the past, there have never been women in all three top administrative posts of the election management committee. The current BDO Naina Dey sees this as a new chapter in the administrative success of Kushmandi. She says, "Although I have personally gone through several elections, this time it will be a different experience for me." A review of the governance structure of Kushmandi block will make it literally women-centric. Because, along with the top positions in the administration, women representatives are also starting to play a leading role here.
