Women's Reservation Creates Interest in Keshod Election Amid BJP Majority

(By Sanjay Devani) Keshod, તા.12: In Keshod Municipality and Taluka Panchayat, there is a reservation for women for the post of President, which is believed to create a lot of interest in the selection of candidates according to the caste equations. Political pundits are making their calculations in this regard. Recently, general elections were held for three local bodies (1) 36 seats of Keshod Municipality, which has a geographical demarcation of nine wards (2) 18 seats of Keshod Taluka Panchayat, which represents 53 villages, and (3) 4 seats of Junagadh Zila Panchayat, which belongs to Keshod Assembly constituency. The BJP won a majority in all three bodies amid a three-way battle between BJP, Congress and Aam Aadmi Party. As for the local municipality and Taluka Panchayat, out of a total of 36 seats in the municipality, BJP has 33 and Congress has 3 seats. While in Taluka Panchayat, out of a total of 18 seats, BJP has 10, Aam Aadmi Party has 6, and Congress has 1 seat in the year 2026.
